In 1925, the Steenstras immigrated to the United States, bringing with them the cherished family almond windmill cookies recipe. This beloved recipe has been the heart of the business for the last century.

Steenstra’s cookie legacy was expanded in 1947 with the establishment of their bakery in Wyoming, Michigan. Despite facing challenges, the Steenstras remained steadfast in their pursuit of crafting delicious cookies.

A devastating fire in 1988 threatened to extinguish the Steenstra’s brand. However, one of their distributors, Harold Voorhees, stepped in to preserve the legacy.

Driven by his love for the brand and a desire to keep it alive, Harold acquired the Steenstra’s brand from the family. The bakery was relocated to Hudsonville, where Harold honored Steenstra’s traditions.
